North London Collegiate School Jeju

Libraries

The Libraries are physically and philosophically at the heart of the school. With three floors and room for nearly 50,000 books, the Senior Library provides NLCS Jeju students with space for research, work, leisure and reflection.  The Junior Library provides a wide range of resources that specifically support the KS1 and KS2 curriculum.

The Libraries support the academic curriculum by providing access to a vast range of books, periodicals and online databases, assisting students to develop their independent research skills. Whether helping a student find the right book to help with homework, or working with Y12s to resource an IB Extended Essay, the Librarians have the skills and resources to support students in their scholarly pursuits. The Libraries play a key role in helping students develop a lifetime habit of reading for pleasure. A huge range of fiction and non-fiction is available to suit all ages, language levels and tastes. Library stock is regularly updated to ensure that both classics and the latest trends in fiction are represented.

The Libraries are not just for work and there are comfortable, quiet areas for students to lose themselves in a book. The Libraries host many events including visits by authors and informal talks about books by teachers and students. Each year the Libraries organise the NLCS Jeju Book Week which, in the past, have included a Book Fair, visits by authors, Spoken Word and book making workshops.
