On February 25th, eight NLCS Jeju students participated in the National History Day Competition held in Seoul. This is an international competition with a number of categories with the finals taking place in June. Our students took part in the table top exhibition and research paper categories, which they have been working on in History extracurricular club for the past two terms. Amongst other topics, they produced work on the suffragettes, USA immigration policies and Napoleon.
The competition was fierce as they were competing with several hundred students from others international schools across Korea. However, for the second consecutive year, an NLCS Jeju student won the senior research paper category, the most contested category of the competition. Many congratulations go to Yubin Oh, Year 11, for his fantastic paper on the role of foreigners in attempting to prevent the Nanjing Massacre in 1937.
